REALTOR®, GRI, ABR, Architect, AIA
As both a licensed REALTOR© and practicing residential Architect, Ed Hughey brings a rare perspective to residential real estate in Austin & Central Texas. With nearly two decades of architectural experience and a successful career as a top-producing agent with Moreland Properties, Ed offers his clients far more than transactional guidance — he provides professional advice, real-time consultation, and strategic insight. His architecturally trained eye, deep understanding of neighborhood dynamics and market data, and expertise in building practices, feasibility, city code, permitting, and construction allow him to consult on every phase of a property’s lifecycle. From property acquisition and project scope to design collaboration, and professional representation at resale, Ed streamlines the real estate process with clarity and confidence. A strong communicator and skilled negotiator, he understands that buying or selling a home is both a financial and emotional decision. His approach is steady, honest, and collaborative — built on trust, thoughtful advice, and a genuine passion for helping clients create spaces that truly feel like home.
Personal Life
Originally from the Northeast, Ed graduated from Dartmouth College before beginning his professional career and eventually making the move to Austin in 2003 to pursue his Master of Architecture at the University of Texas. He quickly fell in love with the city and has called it home ever since. A longtime East Side resident, Ed and his wife, Valerie, were drawn to the character and energy of the East Cesar Chavez neighborhood, where they found, designed, and renovated a charming 1930s bungalow. Outside of work, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, discovering Austin’s latest restaurants and watering holes, cycling the hike and bike trail, traveling to far-off places, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
